General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)

Under GDPR regulations which came into force on 25th May 2018, BLSGA is considered to be a data controller, and as such we need to notify you, as a member of the BLSGA, what information we collect about you, why we collect it and what we do with it.  BLSGA will not pass your information on to any third-party organisations or individuals.

Personal information

In this privacy notice, “your personal information” means any information about you from which you can be identified.  The personal information we collect is your name, email address, age category (ie50 – 64 years, 65 – 69 year, or over 70) and mobile phone number.

Legitimate interests

We need this information in order to provide services to our members, including providing golf competitions by accepting and managing entries for these competitions and checking your personal information to ensure you are entered correctly, responding to and communicating with membersregarding questions, comments or concerns.

Right to object

Where we process your personal information in pursuit of our legitimate interests, as outlined above, you have the right to object to us using your personal information for these purposes. If you wish to object to any of the above, please contact the BLSGA Secretary whose contact details are given below.

If we agree and comply with your objection, this may affect our ability to undertake the tasks above for the benefit of you, as a member.

Statutory or regulatory requirements

We may be required to share personal information with statutory or regulatory authorities and organisations to comply with statutory obligations. If so, we will let you know. 

Publishing personal information

We will publish the results of our competitions on our website and/or appropriate social media, and/or on club noticeboards and/or to current members via email or WhatsApp. This includes competitors’ name, club and handicap. 

Storage of personal information

Your personal information is stored on our electronic filing system and is accessed by our committee for the purposes set out above. Paper copies of your personal information are stored in a secureplace.

We will only keep your personal information for as long as you are a member of the BLSGA, unless you ask us not to do this.

Right to request access 

You have a right to request access to the personal information that we hold about you by making a “subject access request”. If you believe that any of your personal information is inaccurate or incomplete, you have the right to request that we correct or complete your personal information. 

If you wish us to delete your personal information, you may request that we do so. 

We will contact you by email or WhatsApp with information about competition draws and results, or any other relevant information. Please let us know if you do not wish us to contact you in this way.
